Moon is crypto slang for a dramatic increase in an asset’s price. As a verb, it commonly appears as “mooning,” meaning that a price is rising very quickly. It can also describe a hoped-for future gain rather than an observed movement.
A metaphor without a threshold
There is no standard percentage, price target or time period that qualifies as a moon. One person may use the word for a sudden daily surge; another may imagine a much larger rise over years. The term therefore conveys excitement more clearly than it communicates a measurable forecast.
In this glossary context, moon is a market expression, not the name or ticker of any particular token. The asset must be identified separately.
Reading the claim behind the word
A post saying that a coin will moon may be a joke, an expression of confidence or promotional language. It does not supply evidence about adoption, supply or liquidity. A rapid rise can reverse, and a quoted peak may not be available when selling a large position.
Understanding the slang helps interpret conversation, but the word itself does not establish a valuation or a probability of profit.
