Definition
The metaverse is a broad term for connected or persistent digital experiences in which users socialize, create, play or conduct other activities. It does not identify one universally agreed product or architecture. Some projects use virtual reality, while others work through conventional screens and interfaces.
How It Relates to Crypto
Blockchain-based projects may use tokens to represent items, access rights or virtual land, and wallets can help manage those records. A token can support transferability within its design, but usability in another environment requires that the receiving application recognize the asset and its rules.
Key Considerations
Blockchain is not a requirement for every metaverse experience. Ownership of a token representing a virtual item also does not guarantee that a server, game or platform will continue supporting it. Interoperability, moderation, privacy and intellectual-property arrangements remain practical challenges. Virtual land should not be assumed to carry physical property rights, and a project’s immersive presentation or token economy does not establish lasting demand.
