In One Sentence

Master trader is a platform label for a trader whose eligible transactions can be copied by followers.

Master trader is a label used by some copy-trading platforms for the person whose eligible trading activity followers copy. It describes a role in the service, not a universal professional qualification or a guarantee of superior results.

What the role controls

The master trader initiates trades and manages the source strategy within the platform’s permitted products and settings. Followers’ accounts then reproduce eligible actions according to the copying arrangement. The master may receive a share of follower profits or other compensation under the service’s rules.

Control is not identical on both sides. A master may add collateral, change exposure or use settings that a particular follower cannot match. Insufficient funds, skipped orders and different execution prices can therefore leave followers with different positions and risks.

Read performance in context

A profile may show returns, PnL, drawdown, trading history and follower results. These measures answer different questions and depend on their calculation period and methodology. A high win rate alone does not reveal the size of losses or the risk in positions still open.

Evaluating the role therefore includes strategy consistency, leverage, costs and actual follower outcomes. The title or a platform badge does not establish that past performance will continue or that followers will earn the same return.
