24h Volume

Last Updated Sep 24, 2026

In One Sentence

24h volume totals completed trading activity over a 24-hour reporting window.

Definition

A 24h volume figure summarizes recent turnover or traded quantity. On many crypto dashboards the window rolls continuously, rather than resetting at local midnight. The venue’s definition determines whether the figure uses base units, quote value, contracts, or a converted reporting currency.

How It Works

At 15:00, a rolling statistic may cover the preceding day from 15:00 onward. As time advances, new trades enter and older trades leave. The total can fall even while trades continue if a busy earlier period drops out. This differs from a daily candle whose start follows a defined timezone.

Key Considerations

Compare matching windows and units, and distinguish one pair’s activity from an exchange-wide or aggregated total. A higher monetary total can reflect price changes as well as more units traded. The figure is not current order-book depth, net money entering the asset, or a count of unique investors.
